There isn't a shortage of bridges in this city ya nincompoop!!! Building more bridges to connect one super congested part of the city to another super congested part of the city solves nothing.
In order to handle the current population of automobiles in this city, the city would probably have to scoop up roughly 10% of the land in Portland City proper via eminent domain. That, or design a new/additional highway system that would make Portland look like something outta the Jetsons.

50 years ago most people who live here either hadn't been born or didn't know how to pronounce Oregon correctly. The recent growth is unpredicted in this area, making it very hard to plan for.
