The 'no' on 97 campaign intentionally misleads people into thinking it's a consumer sales tax. Opponents' other big argument is that there's no guarantee where the money is applied from year to year. To be taxed a corporation has to make at least $2.5 million in revenue. I don't care if the money goes to seniors, education or housing Portland's daddy long legs. Big corporations and software tech stood by & watched (and even partially caused) skyrocketing cost of living and homelessness. Old people are getting kicked out of their apartments and living on the streets, but people are worried about huge companies that either pay lousy wages or bloated salaries. Screw'em. Vote 'yes' on 97.
Please think of the children! It worked so well for the Arts Tax, you know. No problems there. Certainly no total vacuum of accountability and waste happening over there at the RACC. Oh, no, that would be impossible.
