Don't encourage people to die, cause that is what is gonna happen if they stay out there. Exposure will cause deaths, these people are not prepared for what is coming.

Protests bring out the best and worst in people on both sides of the issue. Quite naturally the cops or national guard would much rather be with their families or home snuggling with their favorite Badge Bunny or Beefy Boy. Instead they're out in freezing rain and snow trying to keep a bunch of pissed off folks from vandalizing property and eventually perishing in the elements.

Protesters have a cause they want to organize about. Many of them want it to be peaceful...but it seldom ends up that way. The people on both sides feel justified and quite frankly are both right. It's the people at home watching on their TV's that get the most bent out of shape about who's drinking water will be poisoned or why the federal or state police are being Nazi's.

My wife was all excited Sunday because she heard the digging and pipe laying was going to cease. Hooray!! Monday morn we find out they're just going to dig it Down the Road A Piece. I know it's not over and I hope I don't hear any tragic news from up there ala LeRoy Finicum or Ruby Ridge.

I've got a buddy from Chicago. We often reflect on "The Whole World's Watching" riots at the 1968 Dem convention. I was in Nam at the time, when he was running down Michigan Avenue tossing Molotovs and getting hit with fire hoses and rubber bullets (until Mayor Daley said "Shoot to Kill"). For that period of time he was in much more combat than I was in overseas. I asked him what was the reward for all that. He first replied, "What was yours"? I shrugged "You got me there". After thinking a bit he said "I'm not sure, but I definitely got laid a lot". He got me again.

Please wait...
