Any religious law is complete garbage and has no valid place in a democratic society. This includes (more prevelantly) Christian themed morality laws.

This anti sharia movement is thinly veiled Islam a phobia plain and simple. Freedom to practice whatever religion you want is a right, sure, but as an atheist and a pragmatist, I side with the sentiment. These aren't harmless, self imposed laws like kosher or levitical laws. They're intrusive and if you think they're harmless, ask yourself how gay children must have felt in this country under the morality laws of yore. Trapped, voiceless, afraid.

Tolerance for oppression has no place in western society. Sharia is a familial and communal structure that was designed to curry blind obedience. You're values are your own to choose until they intrude on others rights to live and choose as they see fit. They should prosecute any harm done to citizens and children by these laws the same as they do the assholes who try and pray their kids cancer away.
