Okay, so besides my show, the annual Art Institute of Portland's graduate show is maybe the most fun large-scale fashion show of the spring and summer that also contains design ideas of real merit (and maybe a few entertainingly bad ideas for good measure). Fortune has frowned upon me, though, because I was out of town for it last year and I have another conflict this year. Drats! But, you should go if you are able. It's delightful to get an early look at the next "generation" of design talent, some of whom will be absorbed into our local sportswear giants, and some of whom will move away upon receipt of their diplomas, but some of them are going to join the ranks of the pioneering designers who are on the ground level of developing the resources for fashion careers in Portland. Very, very exciting.

This year they're calling it "A Feast For the Eyes" (a little corny, yes), and it will take place on June 5 at the Oregon Convention Center. General admission is $20 ($5 for students, and up to $1,000 for a VIP table), but it goes to benefit both the Creative Art Scholarship Fund and the Oregon Food Bank. So... there.
