The message went out last night on the Twitters: Portland Fashion Week is once again accepting applicants for its annual Emerging Designer Showcase, which last year launched designers like Devon Yan Berrong of Devonation and Ms. Wood into prominence. Auditions for this year will be held on Sunday, August 28 from 10 am-1 pm at the Benson Hotel. Here are some further instructions for those designers interested, lovingly provided in ALL CAPS by the PFW team:
PLEASE BRING A REPRESENTATIVE NUMBER OF FULLY CONSTRUCTED GARMENTS FOR THE SELECTION PANEL. YOU MAY INCLUDE SAMPLES FROM PAST COLLECTIONS. IT IS NOT REQUIRED, BUT IF YOU WISH TO BRING ONE LIVE MODEL FOR YOUR AUDITION, YOU MAY DO SO. YOUR FINAL COLLECTION MUST INCLUDE 6-8 HEAD-TO-TOE LOOKS. THERE IS A $45 ENTRY FEE (NON-REFUNDABLE, PAYABLE BY CASH/CHECK AT THE AUDITION) FOR ENTERING THE COMPETITION. IF YOU ARE SELECTED TO SHOW AS A FINALIST, IT WILL BE COUNTED TOWARDS THE SHOW-PRODUCTION FEE OF $350.
THIS IS AN OPEN AUDITION. YOU AREN’T REQUIRED TO CONTACT PFW AHEAD OF TIME, BUT, TO CONFIRM YOUR SPACE, FEEL FREE TO SEND EMAIL TO DESIGNERS@PORTLANDFASHIONWEEK.NET.
So there. (Full disclosure: It looks like I'll be on the panel of judges again this year. Please WOW me.)
