"You are not a size!" is one of the main ideas behind the new clothing line and boutique, Customary Clothing. Located at 811 E Burnside, Suite 222, duo Bree Perry and Juliet Alla will be working together to design, pattern, and construct clothing that is focused on an uncompromisingly good fit for everyBODY. With a nod to classic shapes built in modern fabrics, the mission is to help you find something that fits, flatters, and makes you feel unique.
What started as a meeting to make the most amazing coat in the world at Breedom Public Sewing House (which will be closing in May so that Bree can focus on Customary) has turned into a collaboration of both Perry and Alla's design styles and construction skills. Each of the ladies bring their own pizzazz to the table and both design and sew each of the garments in their collection.
So what makes Customary Clothing stand out from other Portland boutiques? It’s all about the fit!
There are few different options you can go with in the boutique that will allow you to find the best design and fit for you:
1) Ready-to-Wear. The off the rack styles are all one of a kind pieces that will range in standard industrial sizes. There will be a little bit of everything for everyone.
2) Custom Fit. This is where the fun really begins! Customary's clients can pick from a variety of garments offered in store and customize some of the design elements to the individual needs and wants. Bring up the hem, add some buttons, or change the width of the waistband or even the size. The possibilities are endless!
3) Made to Measure. Let your imagination fly! Get a chance to have a garment completely made for you that is quality and at an affordable price. Start from the ground up with every detail and create a one of a kind piece!
Totally excited, huh?! Well, the boutique will have its opening night party on May 4 at their new shop from 6-10 pm featuring the artwork of Calvin Ross Carl, Ashley Sloan, and Nathanael Thayer Moss. Snacks and libations will be served.
