The Quest Center for Integrative Health helps men, women, and children affected by HIV/AIDS as well as those suffering from chemical dependencies, depression, and mental health issues. Their annual benefit raises money to help those in need, and this year's, on Saturday, was bigger and better than ever. A live auction, runway show, and touching stories from real patients of Quest made for a heartwarming evening of fashion, fundraising, and friends. Project Runway stars Mondo Guerra and Bryce Black co-hosted the event with style and grace. Mondo shared his personal experience telling the world his HIV-positive status on the show, and what becoming an HIV/AIDS advocate means to him. Mr. Black brought his A-game in Black Milk leggings and spiked Lita’s as he recounted his inspiring rise in the fashion world. The live auction had wonderful items to bid on, but even better stories of real life recovery, heartache, and how Quest has made such an impact on so many individuals within our community. By the end of the evening I think everyone at my table had had a little tear in their eye at one time or another. Next up came the runway show. The theme was "Welcome to the jungle," with each Portland Sister of the Perpetual Indulgence rocking a custom ensemble by a local designer. The beautiful butterfly confection was one of my faves, as well as the Portland Garment Factory gals, who each constructed a garment for the evening. Britt Howard’s part-Britney "I’m A Slave for U," part-jungle goddess swamp creature was a mahj hit, along with Rosemary Robinson’s black widow babe. Topping off the night was a special sugar-filled surprise from Voodoo Doughnuts with custom Mondo treats (complete with the a bow-tie and specs) in their signature pink boxes. Overall, an incredible night for an even more incredible cause.
