It seems the Republicans are determined to gain control over our uteruses and vaginas, and they also would like to redefine what rape is. I don't know about you, but the more they push the angrier I get and want to push back even harder. Federal funding for Planned Parenthood in Texas has ceased to exist, and Planned Parenthoods all over the country could face the same fate, which is why now more than ever it's time to step up and help them out.

Luckily they have a fun way of doing just that next week. As part of their Sexy Tuesdays series, PP will be hosting Mad Mixer, a Mad Men themed cocktail party at the Someday Lounge on Tuesday August 28th at 7PM. Music will be provided by DiscJockey Gregarious and there will be a silent auction, a raffle, and a photobooth. Also, contests for both dancing and "Best Mad Men Look" will be judged by Eden Dawn of Portland Monthly, Alyson Clair of Clair Vintage Inspired, Seyta Selter of Duchess Clothier, Todd Everett Kinner of The Haberdashery, Marjorie Skinner, and myself. The winners will receive fabulous prizes!!!

Dressing up is strongly encouraged. Of course you can go this route:

which is amazing don't get me wrong, but if you don't have anything like that in your closet, are broke, or are maybe just lazy and incapable of putting together such a look I have some alternatives for you. How about taking a cue from Midge, Don's first mistress, and dressing like an arty bohemian from the Village?

Or maybe Joyce, Peggy's feminist beatnik friend?

For the guys, you can take your inspiration from Don's more casual looks if you don't own a suit:

Whichever way you decide to go you will have no problem getting what you need, as Portland has so many vintage stores it would take me days to list them here. Fortunately a comprehensive list of them can be found here. Don't forget to practice your dance moves!!!
