It is a special moment when one of your closet friends is about to tie the knot. And when your friend crew is full of mahjor fashionistas, the biggest question is obviously UMM WHAT DO I WEAR? With a small budget, and a few good inspiration photos, I took my dream wedding look to local designer Lindsey Reif. I’m happy to report my look was exactly what I wanted, affordable, and most importantly... fierce, bitch! As I am super into the co’ord look, I decided to go with a two-piece top and skort ensemble. Using fabric I picked up during my summer of traveling, I was all set to meet with Lindsey.

Here’s how the design process went down:

The first step was an initial meeting in her studio space. She made me feel right at home in her cozy workspace, and I got to hang out with her super rad orange fluffy cat named Ramona. We discussed my overall vibe: classy, fashion forward, church appropriate but overall nailing it. From there Lindsey sketched out her ideas, took my measurements, and I was on my way. After one fitting with a muslin prototype, Lindsey just had to make a couple of alterations and I was all set. Wow, what a garment fit exactly to your body can do. All the bits I wanted to hide (read: jiggly arms) and showcase (gams) where perfectly on display and fit like a glove. Lindsey was so easy to work with and whipped up exactly what I was lusting after. The best part is that I will be able to work each piece in with my existing wardrobe quite easily. Another added bonus to a custom piece is knowing that you are actually the only girl in the world with it on. Hit up Ms. Reif for your next special occasion look, or if you just get the hankering for something all your own.
