February is shaping up to be an unusually busy time in Portland apparel design, with at least four fashion shows on the calendar (swing over to MOD for regular updates on these happenings). Meanwhile, Brady Lange's appearance on the new Project Runway spinoff show Under the Gunn continues to air every Thursday—he's on his own in representing us now that—spoiler!—the other Portland contender, Amy Sim, was eliminated in last week's episode.

So, since he's already top of mind, Lange is throwing a party to introduce his new spring/summer collection on Friday, February 7 from 7-10 pm at Black Book. No matter what you think of the whole bizarre reality fashion show scene, I've never seen a Portland designer subject themselves to this process without turning the experience into positive creative and professional growth, even when they don't succeed on the show itself. Since Lange had been inhabiting the Portland fashion world, working for respected names like Adam Arnold, Grayling, and Blackbird, for years before debuting a collection that blew everyone's socks off—men's and women's sportswear in juicy colors, sexy cuts, and cheeky prints—his further maturation is an exciting prospect. Rather than a typical runway, look for this one to be a static installation with live models, music, and what Lange calls a "general good ass time."
