• Style in the Pearl

Who said designers get to have all the fun when it comes to fashion shows? For the second annual Style in the Pearl, boutiques got in on the runway action and gave us a preview of fall trends and styles you'll be wearing/lusting after in a few short months.

Night one of the two-day event was sizzling—literally and figuratively. Temperatures rose as stylish fashion fans filed into the Real Big Video venue in the Pearl District. A raised runway was front and center, and the bar was packed with booze to help keep you cool. The audience felt a little light at first, but once the show started everyone packed in to get the best views and the vibe started to pick up. Props to Portland Monthly's Eden Dawn who was the emcee for the night. She rocked a killer jumpsuit from Vintalier that kicked the night off perfectly.

First down the runway were looks from Garnish. Their styles gave us bright pops of yellow, textured knits, and some bold shapes to keep things interesting.

Next up was Silkwood. Their looks featured interesting scarves and a cozy color palette that, despite the heat, had me craving a hot chocolate. And who can resist a sassy pair of kitten tights?

Vintalier had some of my favorite looks of the entire night. Each model rocked a strong western-meets-city vibe that I was totally on board with. Hits of navy and earth tones were highlighted by soft textures and some amazing leather pieces.

New eyewear company Look/See featured their signature frames on each model (wearing clothing from Mojave), but the styles were pretty subtle from the runway. Luckily, there was a pop-up shop where people could check out the frames up close after the show.

Lake Oswego boutique e.g. page crashed the Pearl party with some really polished contemporary looks. Trends included dark florals, a smoky color palette, and some ombre fringe for good measure. I have my heart set on their perforated leather jacket.

Closing out the show were bright and bold prints from FlairWalk. These looks will definitely pop and shine against those grey, cloudy fall days in our future.

Overall, this show was polished and on point thanks to Jillian Rabe Productions. The models (of a very refreshing age range) had the right level of sass to keep everyone entertained, and there were even a few well dressed pups by Lexi Dog to keep things spontaneous. The pop-up shop featuring each designer was packed after the show and hopefully some folks walked away with styles they saw on the runway.

I'll be back tomorrow with my round up of night two featuring a fresh group of boutiques. Stay tuned!
