The Pearl will soon be home to a gallery style store exclusively featuring products made in Portland, taking the city’s love for local to a whole new level. Located across the street from Powell’s (NW 10th and Couch), the location couldn’t be more perfect for folks looking for any and everything Portland-made.
MadeHere PDX, located at 40 NW 10th Avenue, is a store made for, by and featuring Portland artists and products made in Portland. MadeHere PDX features an unparalleled selection of products ranging from edible delights to bikes, surfboards, fine art, furniture, and beyond.
MadeHere PDX features a 3000 sq. ft. open floor plan that feels like an art gallery, but functions as a showcase for the abundant talent of over 50 local brands. Offerings range from apothecary to leather goods, bikes, surfboards, coffee, chocolate, art, design, furniture, jewelry, and more.
The brainchild of owners and proud Portlanders John Connor, Bob Davis (Lizard Lounge), Chris Elkins (Sterrins Group), and Paul Herring (Sterrins Group), the store epitomizes the strong values Portland holds in regards to supporting and buying local. In addition to serving the Portland market with their unique retail space, the group aims to bring nationwide awareness to Portland’s maker culture through a new website that will feature the same Portland-made products that are carried in the store.
“We know this city has an interest in and passion for supporting locally made goods, but until now hasn't had that one place to do so," explains majority owner Connor. “We're all locals ourselves, and want that place where we can buy from local manufacturers. More importantly, we're offering these brands a place to display their products, a sort of test lab that blurs the lines between retail and showroom."
The space also features a lounge for gathering, and future plans call for a meeting area and conference space for brands who want to meet with clients to hash out larger distribution deals, or to showcase the product in a retail context.
MadeHere PDX will open for business on tomorrow, and is hosting a grand opening event on Thursday, November 6th during First Thursday in The Pearl.
