Horror movies, even the most fucked-up ones, tend to mellow a little as time and norms progress. Watching the classics is often just as much an exercise in keeping historical context in mind as it is an exercise in suspending disbelief. Yet Brian DePalma's adaptation of Stephen King's debut novel is, somehow, even more disturbing now than it was upon release.
