It was simply added as an indication of how their appearance and interests might be different than what many Americans expect when they think of the average Brazilian.

It's ok. Nick Cave of the Bad Seeds was light skinned too and also didn't like soccer.

I've spent a lot of time in Brazil and i approve this piece.
