Is She Allowed to Keep Her County Job While Campaigning?

Jake Weigler's slippery answers notwithstanding, the practice in Multnomah County has been that candidates resign.

Most recently, then-Commissioner Deborah Kafoury resigned in October of 2013 so she could become a candidate for County Chair in the May, 2014 primary. (See http://www.wweek.com/portland/blog-30801… )

Loretta Smith is playing fast-and-loose with the rules. She is clearly a candidate for Council and must resign from the County Commission immediately.
