Simply entering this country illegally is sufficient for deportation, who cares what level of violation they have committed? Don't want to get deported? Don't enter the country illegally.

It's as simple as that.

Deke - the government periodically invites people from Mexico and poorer countries to come here to work and then we screw them over when we feel like it. The Brasero program was used in the 50's to get laborers here to work the fields while many from here were off fighting the Korean war. The returning Vets wanted higher wages - and the entire farming community became dependent on the cheap imported labor. There are some programs with valid permits for people to come and harvest - but most of the people doing this type of work don't really know the in's and out's of these programs. The need for low wage earners has spread to many menial jobs that American's don't want in restaurants, hotels, fast food, sweat factories. All this was fine while the economy was booming There is now a huge population here of immigrants and there really isn't any practical way to remove them - the government knows they are here and the corporate interests paying the politicians to stay in office don't really want to deport all the cheap labor. Also our government can't really risk making Mexico angry - they have some oil reserves we might want to buy someday. Instead the government wants to pretend that they don't support the illegal immigrants by doing these public political things, like the stupid fence on the border that was never going to solve the problem, wasted a lot of money, but scored them political votes. So they do want the people here, but to satisfy some dissenters that are mad that the economy is bad and people are out of work, they are doing these really horrible maneuvers for show. They don't care if this trashes the lives of the few immigrants that fall into cracks. This is not about stopping illegal immigration - it never was. By the way - your most likely descended from immigrants like most people in the US. I could never understand why some people should be more privileged then others. We are all human beings and we all share this earth - there is still a lot of room in the US for more people - but it needs to be acknowledged and controlled and these stupid political games using people as pawns and wage slaves need to stop.

Simple solutions for simply minds, eh Deke?

If anything, the border crossed Indigenous Americans when hundreds of miles of Mexican territory was illegally annexed by the Amerikkkan govt. back in the 18th century. You can't blame people one bit for crossing over their OWN land!

Btw, no serious discussion about immigration in this country can be had with including one thing: NAFTA.

Please wait...
