You stole this idea of writing such a story from the Portland Tribune! They wrote this exact story; about a week or so ago; did a far better job too! KEK!

Well religion IS soo thoroughly revolting, it should be of NO surprise that more people are waning away from it. And all the better! But Jake is right - there IS a huge number of churches here. It seems unjustified that there should be soo many churches in Portland.

FYI that Monica will be on OPB's Think Out Loud today at noon, if you want to ask her questions directly.

"I've done this work in Chicago, Philadelphia, and New York, and I think it's also important to note the racial and ethnic distinction—because with black youth, you get a totally different picture. Black youth, even with that sharp decline in religious identity, still participate in religious institutions at high rates."

This is pretty much true also. As a devoutly ANTI-religious person of color who grew up in GA, i can personally attest to just how unfortunate and disappointing this is. Christianity in particular, has been the greatest destroyer of ethnic culture there ever was!

You got something to say, huh?
8
as Ice Cube wouldn't say: if you an apathetic motherfucker don't go to church.

I would agree with what Ice Cube didn't say.
