I'm happy to read they're only reconsidering how to charge the fee, not how to reprioritize spending to meet these pressing maintenance and safety needs.
Transfer police officers to laborer positions and let them earn their pay honestly for a change, by fixing the streets, literally. The City does not need the current grossly excessive force of one thousand police officers. The backlog of supposedly needed repairs is near $100M. That's about equivalent to the salary of 200 officers. The greatest expense in doing repairs is labor. Do the math.
what if i just confine my life to one square block and never use or even set foot in the streets around it? can I be exempt? unfortunately I'd have to learn to hunt squirrels and birds I guess
