Oregon Says Yes to Pot, Jeff Merkley, and John Kitzhaber—but Not to GMO Labeling

Your 'no' stance on Measure 92 was completely idiotic and unjustified. Thanks for throwing your community under the busy to be 'edgy' and take a stand for Monsanto's profits.

As of this morning (Thurs. Nov. 6), the Yes on 92 campaign has not conceded defeat, and the margin continues to narrow as votes are still being counted--now less than 10,000 votes. If 92 is eventually defeated, it is no exaggeration to say that The Mercury (and Willamette Week) are to blame for this loss, because of your unforgiveable "no" recommendations on this measure, which surely swung far more than 10,000 voters.

This ballot measure started out with 77% support statewide, more in Portland. Only after $20 million in corporate money flooded in to confuse (I'm sorry, "educate") voters did the race become so close. The Mercury's publisher or owner essentially gave a big middle finger to the readers by endorsing defeat of this simple right-to-know measure, and should be ashamed.

I love the fact that the anti-science community not only lost, but that they simply can't handle the fact that their friends and family and neighbors are to blame (me!) and not three local newspapers. This sort of unwillingness to face the facts is the same tendency that got you all frothy over nothing in the first place.

And thank you for sharing your tears with us in the comment sections of the merc and ww, your tears add to the sweetness of victory.

the anti science community? You obviously don't know shit about science. But that horse has been beat to death so why go there.

I would like to thank the other half of the state (portland actually got a majority in favor of it) who is making a pretty penny off of feeding us garbage though. I swear if you fucktards who voted no ever went to another country and saw (skinny people everywhere) and 'tasted the difference' you would be horrified at the state of our food supply and go slap everyone at olive garden for making the comparison. even the organic stores don't compare to REAL FOOD. But hey you can't miss what you never knew.

And the small farmer angle they played? that's a joke; countless small farmers have been replaced over the last fifty years thanks to the advent of GMO's. In the long run, does anyone actually believe small farmers are put at a disadvantage were this to pass? Well that's what you call a rhetorical question because it implies people in america actually know what they are voting on. Such a thing would require actual communication, dialogue, disagreements, debates, and enlightening each other via communication through mainstream media (sorry merc I'm not classifying you with the big boys just yet) which brings me to the real culprits; mass media....

FrankieB, aka Frank Biggs. You are the sore loser. Well, at least a loser. Why don't you put the computer away and sell an RV? Or, better yet, go get lost in the woods with your GPS. No, wait, dress up like a deer, first.
