I admire any attempts to improve the safety on Foster; I lived in the neighborhood for years, and my nephews live there still, thankfully. But I gotta tell you, you can light up the pedestrian crossings like Barbie-house-disco-balls and it will not change the safety on that stretch one fucking iota until ONE, the speed limit is substantially reduced, and TWO, there is CONSISTENT ENFORCEMENT by a dedicated patrol system. We don't now have, and never have had, the level of enforcement of the *existing* traffic laws in our neighborhood, and the reason for this is, that is where the poor people live. And the attitude of police is, screw the poor people. Seriously.
