Fabulous photos - the light, the house- all work so well to showcase the beautiful clothing and accessories. Sorry that I had to be out of town and missed the show.
Plenty of diversity and fabulous looks in the show. Well done, Portland!
This comes up every time we do a photo shoot, so just to shed some light on the process: As is often the case, the models in this shoot were sourced by the people (this year, the designers in the fashion show—last year it was the boutiques) who are showcased. If I had the budget to go through an agency and do a formal casting, I would have more control over such things. It is something I am sensitive to, and I do what I can to represent as much diversity as possible, but most often I don't have the luxury of calculation (I have the creative luxuries of collaboration and enthusiasm). All these women are gorgeous and total sports, and I was super enthused to work with all of them. I have zero complaints.
Yeah, actually noticed approximately one Black woman as well. I was rather surprised.
@ Nberry: "said the White person."
@ TheOnlySanePersonInTheWorld - You shouldn't judge people based on their skin color or ethnicity. I think all of these shots are gorgeous, regardless of the 'race' of any of them.
it reflects Portland ratio, so there is nothing to complain about. you're welcome to start your own business & use who you like as models. in fact, you are encouraged.
@ eprophet: I don't think you get it.
It's called Open Season, not Quota Season. And the girl on the bathtub looks Asian to me...not that it matters.
I see White people!!! Damn!
See you got one sista up in this shit, good job. Maybe toss in few more or some Asians or Latinas?
Everything looks eff-ing amazing. Congratulations!!
It was well worth $15 and enduring a few corny bits hawking vitamin water.
Disappointing. Paid $15 for a show that started late only to have to sit through a poorly executed "infomercial" by a hack comedy group before the show actually started. If I wanted to PAY to see an infomercial I'd get cable.
Congrats to Gretch. The judges made the harder, but in the end correct, choice. I was disappointed with the show's new nasty tenor, and I'm saddened that Gretchen received a somewhat clumsy, cliché reality show hatchet job in an effort to make her some kind of TV stock villain. I'm saddened, also, that the show's prestige, if it had any, will be tarnished by the new production choices -- if it will be seen less as an exciting competition between design talents, and more as a human circus with contrived, semi-scripted, suggestively edited melodrama. But, hey, that's the entertainment biz. Gretchen is a strong and talented woman (what some people call a 'bitch') and I'm sure she'll be just fine.
Re: “Open Season”
Narcissism is so awesome.
