keep beatin the dead horse (we sniped it from the bridge) Gerbils.
So a girl on a bridge, with a .22LR and Sniper scope is now fashion?
Keep Portland weird!
"Rather than try to manufacture a forced unifying theme, Open Season has become a celebration of this diversity, and the freedom that these artists represent."
For a definition of "Forced unifying theme" see the guns in these photos.
Nothing celebrates diversity and freedom like a gat in the hand of a pretty dipshit.
you win gerbils. you always do
If we're using other words to describe people with mental disabilities, why should we let a perfectly good word like retarded go to waste? Moron & cretin were once medical terms, but long ago morphed into ordinary insults - not to mention a great Ramones song.
I don't undetstand why people who would never use retarded as a medical term or to describe an actual mentally disabled person want all of us to refrain from using retarded in a different context. Language is alive, it should not be unnessarily constricted.
As for Portland fashion, why in a dreary climate would people all dress like it's a race to the bottom of the Goodwill bins?
Sorry to run long, but this has been bothering me for a while.
Fashion is rather silly. Just sayin'.
Those are all squirt guns. And hot models. Rawr pew pew pew rawr!
@Willem, I see you're up to date on your Family Guy, nice observation.
The 'concept' of having people posing with guns is weak at best and nowhere near the level of snarky journalism that the Mercury generally produces.
Seriously - in one photo if the model were to actually fire the gun, she would have a bloody ring around her eye.
If you're going to have a fashion show, have some creativity - this feels like it was the idea of a high school glee club.
Sorry Kyle, go fish.
I don't know. I tend to agree with Gerbils, though I'd probably pick BORED over retarded. And if you're going to use guns as props as a trite route towards edgy, you could at least get the models to hold the guns properly.
Agreed with Wm. Gerblis is the typical anonymous troll making weak attempts at humor to "stir" people up
I think it's okay to use the word when you are the word.
It's sad the word retarded has been yanked from our popular vernacular.
It captures this piece perfectly.
I've been going to Brick's since just after it opened (and just went today, as a matter of fact!). Eric does a great job on my rather boring and military-like haircut, and truly makes me feel like a valued customer. Although I'm not a huge fan of the waxing, it does make my eyebrows look better...especially the older I get. :)
I personally think that his shop is totally out of place in SW Portland, which is why I appreciate it so much. We get very little hip or cool in our neck of the woods.
I used to go to Supercuts on Capital Hwy, or the little barbershop there in front of Barbur World Foods...both totally suck balls in comparison to Brick's.
This place truly rocks! It didn't need a Portland icon like the Octopus to make it a place in Portland you can't afford NOT to try! The cool folks (thanks Chelsea for the great cut), the PBR, and the strangely nice first-time brow wax were enough to keep me coming back and spreading the word.
Bricks is GREAT! I don't understand how Bricks can be SO much better than Supercuts and cheaper.
This review couldn't be anymore accurate, purchased or not! At Brick's Barber you won't walk away bored, thirsty or hating with your hair (as I so often do after a new haircut).
As far as haircuts go, Eric is amazing! You walk out looking the best you ever did, not with that awkward new haircut look, but styled and relaxed. If you are a regular waxer, you'll quickly see that Eric is a great sculpter and a smooth puller!
As far as personality goes, even if this is your first visit you'll feel like best friends with your barber. On my first visit I was offered a bite of Eric's dinner, a beer and truly endless conversation. Upon returning he always remembers me and what we've talked about before. If you are looking for a relaxing spa-like atmosphere, you might not get it, but you will get your share of entertainment.
If your the type to go to Bishops and get some whatever stylist who doesn't know you and doesn't care, then you have nothing to lose by heading a couple of minutes of your way to Brick's Barber.
Please do not wax your moustache. It is the ONLY Portland facial hair (besides the random devil hairs on my chin) that I find "adorable." That is all.
Kind thanks - AF
Awesome!!!! Bricks is the best!!!!! ;)
Forget about me..."IT'S BRICKS BITCH!"
Who did your video again?? I want them for my next hit!!!!
It's not an octopus anymore huh?!?! It's a COCKTAPUS...
Hahaha! No shit. Its in the paper, not this site.
