Re: “Films of Future Past

This is great because digitally acquired images that are digitally projected feel more like a power point presentation than a theater experience. Most digital cinema projectors are only 2K resolution where a 70mm film frame would require about 16K to resolve all of the information. Digital cinema is slightly cheaper and more convenient for the studios making crap movies not worth the film. Believe it or not most of the prestigious movies coming out of Hollywood are still shot on film.

Re: “Films of Future Past

Vertigo should look phenomenal as it was shot in VistaVision (8 perf horizontal) but was restored in 70mm format in the '90s

Re: “Films of Future Past

"It does not cater to us, but wants to inspire us, enlarge us. Nearly 30 years after it was made, it has not dated in any important detail." with the exception that its still the most overrated sci fi film in history. it has some technical achievments that were pretty cool for the day but it can't help its wooden story. but yay to films on film....

Re: “Ghosts of Games Past

Yep! But you'll notice that on the System Shock 2 Steam page the publisher is listed as Night Dive Studios. This is basically the story of how that happened.

Re: “Ghosts of Games Past

Stupid question, but does Steven Kick just not have Steam? Cuz System Shock 2 is in the store, and it runs pretty well on modern machines.

Re: “Not That Sarah Marshall

When Harding was at the top of her game, flawless and confident, she was most definitely beautiful to watch. Check out the '91 Nationals. She didn't have a model's body, but she did things no one with a model's body could do.

Re: “Be Happy

I am thrilled to see an artist using the power of commercial design in a conscientious and benevolent manner. I can only hope this inspires a new generation of design students.

Re: “The Long Game

I'm glad to see that Andy Wood is totally fine with the status quo and sees no need to encourage under-represented demographics to apply. It's totally awesome that he's such an egalitarian and in no way is perpetuating an already existing racist and sexist system that over-represents one particular group.
