Going to lose it tonight. Can't wait!
Helmet didn't play Unsung.
This, even after mocking Portlanders for things like recycling. So were they too cool to play the only song anyone knows? 2014 is literally two decades past the time when anyone would ever consider them cool.
You could launch an entire diatribe about artistic freedom and name countless examples of bands that don't play the songs that made them famous (Radiohead springs to mind). But this is different. The appeal of these guys is nostalgia. Nobody cares what Helmet's new album sounds like or how they're helping to shape the future of music. They were hardly relevant even at their peak! So I feel ripped off for not getting my dose of 1993 from them.
Thankfully, Local H and Filter were well aware of their role and saved the night with awesome performances.

Hey Mercury! We're opening the bars over the river, at the other shop at 805 NW 23rd Avenue! :-)
If you want a great taste of what community music can be, this place is a must! Intimate and safe place to share your own compositions or cover (depending on the night). Friendly and warm people. Open ears, hearts and minds. Bring your instrument. Bring your ears. It's a fine place to just relax and listen, and a great place to perform if you wish. Artichoke is also a diverse music school with world class instructors, and a music store.
You are going down USA, and we (Germany) are taking you there!! It will be so sweet to watch tonight, LMAO!! :)
