Very rude customer service. The guy named Jack used a bunch of F words when the customers paid him. He also made fun of me about my pregnancy. My 2 guy friends took me there, and the guy Jack kept asking them "whose fault? Who's the daddy?" He thought he's funny by saying that, but it's very annoyed and disrepected. The meat is all frozen, vegetable is unwashed. This's my second time eating here and once again I had diarea soon I left. The guy Jack also talked behind the customers with other customers about how much meat they ate and that they were crazy soon they walked out of the restaurant. They never clean the restroom like it's been there for 10 years of none serviced. This place should be reported to the department of health service, katu or dirty dinning fox 12 for inspection and investigation.
They charged $360 to repaint a small room that only had easily removable paint spatters on one wall and the ceiling. They also have a 50% forfeiture of your deposit if you stay less than 6 months.
I wanted a space to paint, but my art wasn't selling enough to warrant keeping the room and I am dealing with financial issues, so I had to move out. I end up having to pay an additional $160 on top of losing my entire deposit.
Read the reviews from their bay area operations. Apparently this is par for the course. I should have listened to those reviews, but I was hoping the Portland space would be different. :(
Glad they closed. The food was alright but WAY overpriced. Ian the co-owner/manager is a piece of s**t. At the time of writing this, a few different former employees are still owed back paychecks.
I also forgot to mention that one of the waitresses told me that the owner never paid the workers on time, never pays for the cooks over-time, and never even paid the difference during the increase in minimum wage. So they were essentially working the old Oregon minimum wage for at least two months starting January 2013, and never got compensated for the difference. How could you possibly support a business like that?!
I ordered the hush puppies, blackened fried catfish and garlic mashed potatoes. They serve instant mashed potatoes now! Tacky and gross. When I asked about it, I was told that they do that sometimes when they run out. Geez, ever heard of "86" when something runs out rather than slipping in some crappy substitute for the real thing? I would gladly have ordered something different had I known, although early into a Friday night you would think they wouldn't already be out of one of their most basic staples. Everything besides the fish tasted old, hard and stale, like it was prepared yesterday afternoon and left under a fast food heat lamp, which may explain why, on a busy night, they cranked out our food a lot faster than our drinks, which came to our table sometime after dinner arrived. Even the service was a disappointment. Our waitress was heavy on the schlocky affectations and her "eccentricities," which included skipping, a terrible fake French accent, and weaving her hand in the air while speaking as if playing a theramin, were all about as genuine as the cement-like lump of instant mashed potatoes on my plate. I have been coming to this place since they first opened up on SE Belmont street in the 90's, when the quality of the food mattered and the people serving it were great servers with real personalities. It is hard to believe how much it's all gone downhill. There are too many good late night restaurants in town to accept what they're currently churning out. Let the kids go for the atmosphere. If food or service matters to you, go elsewhere.
Maybe Vinnie's has gone downhill since these older reviews. I've had their pizza within the last 4 months.
Maybe if they actually made their own pizza dough it would be good. The crust is terrible. The sauce is lacking and they don't put enough on the pizza. The toppings are generous- that's all I can say that is positive.
Ordered a ckn caeser salad n asked for lemons n got lemon slices. WTF. ARE U FREAKING KIDDING ME. WEDGES. And the ckn had no flavor. I pushed ckn aside n left food. How sad.
Is a crappy place with crappy people
Wow! This is one place I will NEVER be returning to again! I overheard some short, little Asian guy (presumably the owner) berating his employees and talking about how "lazy Americans" are. I was so offended I got up and walked out. The
twilight use to be my favorite dive bar with a kickass breakfast menu. I had heard rumors about how the new owner had decimated the place, so I had to check it out for myself. Decimated doesnt even begin to explain what he's done. Menu sucks, ambiance has tanked!
Overpriced and untasty. Pulled pork and brisket were both bone-dry and leather-tough. $9 for a sandwich, ouch. Charges a $1 credit/debit surcharge (which is fine) but didn't say anything about it, just charged the extra dollar without warning. With so many good options in the same cart pod, there's really no reason to eat here.
I think there should be an option for empty stars... They don't deserve one!!! But since that's the lowest option... Anyway, service was poor, waitress brought my food 10min before my husbands, with no utensils. His manicotti came out and the waitress said, don't touch the plate, cause it's hot. Hmmm... Was that microwaved??? I asked her if it was frozen, she said she didn't think so, so I asked her to check.. Ahhh, yes, she said, it comes frozen to them as a whole, they don't even make it!! Homemade pasta shipped from Italy, my fucking ass!!! I could have gotten 5 frozen full entree dinners from Winco for the 45 fucking bucks we spent!!! Bitches
Horrible service, horrible food! I was served raw chicken - end of story.
HORSE BRASS PREFERS TO SUPPORT LOCAL DRUNK GUYS AT THE BAR THAN WOMEN TRYING TO HAVE DINNER WITH THEIR FAMILIES WHO CONFIRMED IN ADVANCE THAT ITS OKAY TO BRING CHILDREN.
One of the worst meals I have ever eaten. To call it mexican cuisine is like saying the olive garden is fine italian. The green mayo they call guacamole was the worst trick ever played on me in a restaurant. If you are looking for a break up spot however I give it five stars!
So that was my first time to go to this Hot Pot City. I did not know how the store works... but when I entered the store, I saw 3 empty desks, and a few people sitting around. My friends and I saw the "waiting" sign. At first, we want to ask the waiters if we should get a ticket to wait or what. We waved at them, but no one replied. They just saw us, and turned away. POOR SERVICE. We tried to call on them for several more times, but same thing happened. So, we decided to get a table ourselves, since there are three empty tables. Then, still, no waiter came to us. They just stared at us. Two of my friends directly approached one of the waiter, and ask her if she can serve us, but she started to be talking really rude. IF she talked to us nicely and told us earlier that we should sign up on a paper on their desk, we would gladly do so. HOWEVER, that two waiters said nothing to welcome us or did anything to inform us. They then started to blame on us and shout at us. THIS is so ridiculous and rude. My friends and I ended up shouting them back and just left the store. We traveled a long way to go to the store and we got "THIS" kind of poor service. THEY TOLD US TO LEAVE IF WE DIDN'T WANT TO WAIT. BUT THE POINT IS... WE WILL WAIT IF THEY TOLD US EARLIER OF WHAT WE SHOULD DO IN ORDER TO BE IN THE QUEUE. WTH?!?!I WILL NEVER GO AGAIN.When we told this prb to my frd's relative, who lives around Portland, they also said that they only went there for once, and never go again because of the poor service. IF THEIR STORE OPENS IN HK, THEY CANT EVEN SURVIVE FOR A MONTH!!!! THEY WILL BE CLOSE DUE TO WHOLE BUNCH OF COMPLAINTS!!! SO MY ADVICE:NEVER GO TO THIS STORE AGAIN!
very FAT people and very OLD.
im no 10 but damb there is a hole lot of ugly there I had to get my wifes and I money back from the door fee it was too gross
Why should I eat here? With that kind of treatment from "the boss" to his employees (or former employees), I will NOT ever eat here!
Be warned: They filled out a lamb dish with pork on the bottom (cost-cutting?). It was disgusting. I was a semi-habitual customer but now I am never going back. I was very, very disappointed. Service has definitely declined too.
Check out some places in SE, they're better or not going to scam you or overcharge.
Join us in supporting Gibson and help us wish her former boss, Mike Lemmo, a happy birthday!
Gibson is a barista who worked at the Lyrik Cafe for over a year.
Mike Lemmo bought the business at the beginning of August and replaced original staff after they trained their replacements. Mike often used abusive language and called Gibson a “dirty hippie” shortly before firing her via text message.
He then stole over $100 from Gibson’s final paycheck, and has yet to provide her with a single paystub.
Gibson, We Are Oregon, and dozens of community allies have held a series of actions at the Lyrik Cafe over the last 3 weeks, topped off with a picket on Tuesday. It is important that we keep the pressure on Mike to return the wages he stole from Gibson.
Mike is turning 65 this weekend, and you’re invited to his birthday picket! Come share your birthday wishes, walk the picket line, and eat some cake!
