John Green is dreamy.

Just by this: As Seifert says in the afterword, "The really classic, lasting monsters—vampires, zombies, and werewolves—are all disease metaphors." Sounds frikin huge amazing.

I never thought I'd find one other person who thought about genteel nonfiction this way. During my matriculation through a MFA program in Cambridge, MA (my genre was creative nonfiction), I discovered this Lady memoir track. Whew. Yeah. Tragic quilting stories, lots of them. Thanks.
I almost checked my Monsters Manual for a Grassy Gnoll, but then I realized you were talking about something else. Carry on.
I find it very interesting that this article is entitled "Teacher of the Year"
Jezebel is running an exclusive story about Alexander Maksik and his very real relationship with a high school student while he was a teacher at the American School of Paris. It's interesting that he never alluded to that coincidence. As a graduate of ASP and a former student of Maksik's, I'm shocked that he had the nerve to write this "novel"

Well, for the record Al, I completely agree with you.
Re: comment #5...Touche'. Turn to comment #3 for explanation and blame. How could I confuse Giant Ants with Giant D's? Perhaps I was creating my own adventure....or was it foreshadowing? Anyway...love ya.... keep up the good reviews.
You are the reason I like the Mercury. You make this paper.
@5 ha, fair enough. but I never said it was GIANT...
aww, 4 comments in and you are discouraged? Why? Everyone loves your reviews, you do a great job,so don't despair. Stay don't Go. In all fairness though, from one girl to another, you did bring up the Giant D, first.
aww, three comments in and i hate being a girl writing for the internet again. that's a shame.
I thought the book and illustrations were delightful. A whimsical story within a dark story. Not sure about Ms. Hallett's comment "The ray gun looks like a giant dildo". hmmmm really? seriously? Maybe wishful thinking on her part? Kudos to the mystery writer and especially to the illustrator.
Very unique and fascinating book. I thought the Choose Your Adventure aspect was more ironic symbolically since all the decisions seemed futile against the power of alcoholism. However I still agree that the ultimate choice was between staying and going.
