"But pay anyway, because it's the law."
We'll see about that
The offices of the Portland Mercury are for the most part, empty all night, as well. Just like Peter Stott Center at fucking Portland State University.
How are all these amendments, extensions, and problems with implementing this tax affecting the $500,000 start up cost cap in City Code 5.73.09? Are all costs relating to the start up from all bureaus and outside vendors taken into account?
Who wrote this is clearly A critic who has god complex and think everybody else is screening rats and below him. Well a critic especially the one from small town in not even major publications is still screening rat. It's screening rat who happen to be critic. And I can bet whoever wrote this, my points in my regal crown cat should be a lot more yours. Who's the screening rat ?
If you are not happy and so bitter about the situation, quit being critics from unknown newspaper. Be critic in major publication so you will have a name attached to a chair with all the Hollywood actors. No need to see screening rats. But may be its difficult for you to upscale your career as we can all see your writing is bias and unprofessional. So here's the suggestion: if you don't like what you see, quit being critic. Pay for your movie. Don't come. Stop acting like a grandma who blame on the cookies because she doesn't have teeth to bite it. Ciao
Some days, I just don't have the energy azure.
My grandpa would kick your ass if he heard you talking about Sarah like that.
NIMBY-NUMBSKULLS ALERT!
WHERE'S BLABBY???
No one should ever smile at a SMirk-hater.
I'm starting to hate Mr Shackoff
Whoa you don't like S. Mirk?
Fuuuuuuuck you dude!
Love how you slid in a random Sarah Mirk diss in such an innocent little Amelie of a letter.
did i get lost in the i saw u section??
Yeah, the City is refraining from debt collection out of the goodness of its revenue sucking heart. Not because administrative costs are consuming this tax revenue or that its implementation is the epitome of government incompetence.
"Film criticism got democratized by the internet, transforming it from a smaller number of deep, still pools of knowledge and thought, into something more like a running hose carelessly tossed on a hot blacktop."
That's a nice line right there.
SHENANIGANS!!!
Christ, the Merc's really got its head up its own ass lately. This thing is a bumbling clusterfuck, from concept to execution. That the servers failed is a pretty clear cut indication that if they wanted to tax us-- they should have added it to property taxes. You know, a system that's already in place and works pretty well. Instead they've wasted god-knows-how-much on this clunky, shitty website that wants to charge me an extra $1 to pay my bill. What the fuck?
I mean, those alone are huge problems. Never mind that it's a poll tax and damned near unenforceable.
So stop blaming the people who "waited until the last minute". It's not their fault. This is a boondoggle in every single aspect. Even the precious children everyone's crowing about will get fucked by this debacle. PPS is already scrambling and Hales is promising money from our city's emergency fund.... what the fuck? Dude needs to man up and squash this fucking thing, or at least do something to mitigate the chaos this stupid thing keeps kicking up.
That 62% of voters "approved" it doesn't amount to shit. It's garbage and it needs to be stopped. I'm not paying it, and I hope it sends a message to Sam, the City Club, and anyone else responsible for this mess. The arts tax must die!
this bored me.
Re: “Fantasy Book Recommendations from Powell's MaryJo Schimelpfenig”
If MaryJo Schimelpfenig recommends The Lies of Locke Lamora to read on a trip, then what's her DTF?
(And thank you so much, Alison, for putting this thought in my mind)
