Paul Guinan is a Chicago-born multimedia artist whose eclectic career includes stints as a storyboard artist, cinematographer, ad agency illustrator, kinetic sculptor, mural painter, movie reviewer, production designer, radio DJ, model maker, silkscreener, and even wax-figure restorer for a Ripley’s Museum. He was lead background artist on the animated series Stan Lee’s Stripperella, produced and hosted the award-winning cable TV variety show The Friday Club, and co-created Chronos, a monthly time-travel title from DC Comics. Paul co-founded Portland’s Periscope Studios, the largest comic book studio in North America. In 2000, Paul began work on a web site that chronicles the history of Boilerplate, a mechanical man invented by Professor Archibald Campion in 1893. Paul’s Boilerplate web site has garnered praise from the New York Times and publications around the world, evolving into a lavish 170-page, 9x11, hardbound book with 350 illustrations, now available in better bookstores everywhere.
