Serving: scotch eggs, bangers, fish-n-chips, pasties, and other British homestyle food along with a few not-so-British specials to soak up an impressive selection of American and import beers on tap. Dont forget: single malt scotches as well as dart lanes for a true public house expierence.
Creative cuisine and cocktails. The Saucebox is a conceptualized restaurant with modern pan-asian and pacific islands food and sleek, hip interior decor. The cocktail menu is monstrous, so take your time deciding. The food is spicy and delicate mostly Asian-inspired and fancy but not so high brow/experimental that you don't know what you're eating. Live DJs add to the hip-factor.
The Bar of the Gods (BOG to kids in the know) is a mainstay of the upper Hawthorne bar district and is that particularly Portland breed of hipster dive bar. It's dark, it (used to be) smoky, and the bartenders are oooh, way cooler than you, but the food is good, mostly vegetarian and the full menu is served until 1:30am! Plus, they've got cheap pinball and pool and there are decent beers on tap. So go even if you don't own a pair of white framed sunglasses.
Friendly Chinatown strip club with a large selection of bar-style food something different is on special every day for a mere five bones.
The Shanghai is in the heart of Portland's party-town, located mostly underneath Berbati's Pan with the entrance, upstairs lounge and outdoor seating on the corner. The subterranean portion of the bar is actually part of Portland's infamous Shanghai Tunnels. The Shanghai can get pretty crazy, which can fulfill that fun downtown party need. Stiff drinks and affordable Pan-Asian and American food is served as well.
This is a good old standby bar for North Portland residents. Homey and comfortable and with the exception of the new patio relatively unchanged in decades. Cheap drinks and the usual bar fare keep the patrons happy (or at least less grumbly).
And even better, now you can find Smoky Mountain BBQ
inside the club! Featuring: pulled pork, brisket, meatloaf, ribs, catfish and a slew of sides (some are even vegan if you're into that sort of thing).
