Designed to resemble an Irish pub by way of New York, and in that tradition it is a place to get yer fun on, with party rooms, a ton of TVs and DJs spinning sing-a-long music for horny office workers to drunkenly slur along to. The food is a mix of American pub fare and some Irish favorites with daily chefs specials.
One of the first art-deco buildings in Portland, the Laurelhurst is a popular second-run movie theater that serves pizza from the New Deal cafe and beer along with the usual movie snacks.

Recently renovated, the Academy's 3 screens show second-run films for cheap and offer Flying Pie pizza, hot dogs, beer, wine and ice cream, along with your typical movie theater fare.
