Pope House is the place to go for a wide selection of American whiskey. With 39 Kentucky bourbons on the list, and they know how to make a good cocktail to boot. Expect a typical American bar atmosphere - sports on the big screen and rock/blues music. The food consists of primarily Southern fare like fried chicken, jambalaya and stick-to-yer-ribs mac & cheese.
Remember in the '50s, when everyone thought the future would be full of flying cars and vacations to Mars? Well, the Space Room was designed in anticipation of that. Stiff drinks and gigantic booths make it a favorite among regulars and hipsters alike.
A no-frills tavern off Busy Belmont featuring: Beer, booze, tater tots from around the globe (in many exotic flavors and varieties), pizza, fried chicken etc. Complete with a nice sunny patio... for those days when it’s sunny.
If you're like me and don't really get your act together enough to make it to breakfast ...in the morning, fear not. Sckavone's serves theirs until 2pm (perfect). Breakfast is of course only one of their offerings, a whole range of comfort-food choices can be yours like pasta, fish n' chips, burgers etc. And there is a smaller, late-night menu available for um,... dinner. Plop your ass in a big comfy booth or at a stool at the soda fountain where where they'll serve you a rootbeer float, a malted or even better, a beer!
The Sapphire is delicious looking and tasting. This lush, romantic, dimly lit bar isn't really a hotel, but they do create pretty amazing specialty cocktails and small plates of schmancy chow. Great place for after work drinks or a date -just don't let your date catch you ogling the sexy staff.
With a refined, minimal, retro aesthetic, Rontoms is large and airy, yet it's reminiscent of your folks' basement den circa 1973 (minus the shag carpet or linoleum, plus hipsters). They boast a good selection of locally produced liquors along with the usual suspects and the shareable food choices have a distinct Scandinavian bent with cheese fondue, Swedish meatballs, and the like. And when weather permits, squeeze yourself into their popular back patio. This one's a keeper!
