Pretty much your basic old-school bar with restaurant attached. The restaurant serves breakfast all day along with burgers and the usual artery-clogging fried stuff. The bar has pool tables, juke box, darts etc. It's smoky, grungy and they serve insanely strong drinks. The crowd sometimes leans to the meat-markety types but gets some variety being in the upper Hawthorne 'hood and all.
As the name suggests the emphases are on the Wine and the Coffee, but they also sell chocolate and have a nice selection of inexpensive small plate food offerings.
Up front (the Tea Zone) is a quaint little beverage joint with some of the best tea selections in town, including tea lattes and the fun and fabulous bubble tea! Yummy tea-time treats, like pannini sandwiches, quiche and tarts, are also in stock for your liking. The Camellia Lounge in back is swanky, comfortable and features a full-service bar with specialty tea-infused cocktails, marTEAnis and live music.
The second location for this venerable Portland indie coffee house. Anna Bannanas is well-known for their superior coffees and teas, and they also have a small but not insignificant menu of sandwiches, wraps, soups & salads, and spreads & bread.
In heart of the Belmont business district, Hoda's dishes up Lebanese style grub in a comfortable balconied dining room. Choose from mezza platters, kabobs, middle eastern style pizzas and much, much more.
Trickling water, soft Asian music and a serene, comfortable, zen-like atmosphere make your tea sipping and dining experience all the more bliss-inducing. Numerous varieties and preparations of tea are available and the all vegan Asian/Indian food is perfectly prepared. Try the dal and rice for a meal or for something a little lighter some samosas or vegetable dumplings or take a few friends and mix and match. Your chi will be glad you did.
Coffee, teas, beers, sweet things, small plates of nibbles, and hookahs on the large garden patio are all part of the attraction to this Victorian house turned hippie-ish coffee/tea shop.
Fire on the Mountain is the cream of the crop when it comes to chicken wing cuisine. This little fry house has the freshest wings around, and over ten different homemade sauces to slather them in. Don't fear bringing your veggie friends here: "Portland Wings," AKA vegetarian "chicken" wings, or the "Vegeterranean" sandwich will fill them up. And if you happen to have a hankering for some old-fashioned sweet tea or state-fair-inspired deep-fried pickles or Twinkies, this would be your place.
Serving: scotch eggs, bangers, fish-n-chips, pasties, and other British homestyle food along with a few not-so-British specials to soak up an impressive selection of American and import beers on tap. Dont forget: single malt scotches as well as dart lanes for a true public house expierence.
Proper Eats is a vegetarian and vegan cafe/deli with microbrews on tap and live music on the weekends. Dishes are super tasty and are made with all organic ingredients.
