Below the Rialto pool room, now lies the Jack London Bar. So named in honor of the hotel upstairs at one time being known as The Jack London Hotel.
Half diner/restaurant, half huge bar, Joe’s kindly separates the coffee drinkers from the boozers. Food is standard diner fare, like sandwiches, burgers, soups, and iceberg lettuce salads. Drinks in the pool table outfitted lounge are quite stiff, which is to say, quite good.
The Nob Hill is a decidedly unpretentious oasis amongst the teeming trendiness that makes up much of Northwest 23rd Street. The servers are friendly, the burgers are juicy, and the beer is cold and comes quick. The gastronomical burger is a sight to behold, made with two beef patties, pepper jack cheese and jalapeños. This is also a good place to hit if you're a fish and chips fan, and if you love tacos, the Nob Hill sells them for 50z on Monday night.
If you’re in Northwest and you want a good: old man/hipster/student/off-work cabbie/drunk girl/normal folk/mingle bar, Yur’s is the spot. It has a long bar and a ton of comfortable booths, and a regular mix of interesting folk who aren’t snobs or fashionistas. AND there are pool tables and darts!
A classic Multnomah Village Portland dive that you shouldn't miss if you're in the neighborhood. Cheap food, good drinks, and nice folks abound.
