Pizzicato makes a good thin-crust pie with creative toppings, and fresh inventive salads with ingredients like pear, gorgonzola, and walnuts, or a fabulous lemon-tinged spinach salad with pine nuts.Multiple choices for individual slices are available every day as well as whole pies so any of their many locations cater to the solo diner, as well as the four-top.
This little Italian-style cafe does pasta, panini and salads right. Enjoy a cocktail or jelly glass of wine with your lunch or dinner while watching the East 28th & Burnside neighborhood pass you by. The bruschetta is nearly perfect but, sadly, isn't offered at lunch.

Mid-century-modern sophistication and Portland cool all come together at the Gold Dust Meridian, the latest bar on the Hawthorne strip. Swank and suave, with a naughty side almost like it was conceived by Ian Fleming himself, the moodily-lit interior is a perfect pace to unwind with one of their signature cocktails like the Hawthorne Wallbanger or the Casino Royale. The menu consists of stylish appetizers, salads, and sandwiches, with a few entrées as well. Your secret-agent mission, should you decide to accept it: Slip on your sport coat and Romeos, then drive your Austin Healy directly there.
In a city like Portland, where there's a Thai restaurant on practically every corner, sometimes it's hit and miss when it comes to finding the stand-outs where; there is a good selection, the ingredients are fresh, the food isn't too greasy and the atmosphere is nice. I'll bypass the guessing game for you, this is one of those places.
