With a refined, minimal, retro aesthetic, Rontoms is large and airy, yet it's reminiscent of your folks' basement den circa 1973 (minus the shag carpet or linoleum, plus hipsters). They boast a good selection of locally produced liquors along with the usual suspects and the shareable food choices have a distinct Scandinavian bent with cheese fondue, Swedish meatballs, and the like. And when weather permits, squeeze yourself into their popular back patio. This one's a keeper!
Bright & airy with a slightly retro feel. They pour a good coffee drink, they offer Baker & Spice baked goods, and they've got a corner play area for the ankle-biters.
You could call the baristas at Albina Press "coffee artists," if it didn't sound so pretentious (no matter how true it is). They make truly professional coffee drinks, then they send their baristas to national coffee competitions, then they win or at least place because they're that good. It's also a gorgeous atmosphere and they always have some hot local artist showing off their work on the walls.
