Hitch-hikin' the road to Inspiration...I tell and collect stories; drunk on bridges, we'll sing songs to each other when we meet. Ah, the sweet life…
Pioneer Courthouse Square is the heart of downtown Portland and it's a microcosm of the diverse and friendly city. Taking a visitor to the Square is great way to give them a view of what the city is all about. Many different kinds of people can be seen there. Tourists like to have their picture taken with the statue of the businessman holding an umbrella. The Square is also host to all sorts of events and occasions that make it always a fun spot for people-watching and free entertainment in these tight economic times. There are places to sit and read a book in the sun and there is shelter for the not uncommon cloudbursts that our city is famous for. The pride of Portland's celebrated public trans system, the Max train, stops right at the square too, so it's a good place to meet up with friends. Like the city which revolves around it, Pioneer Courthouse Square is a place where you never know what you are going to find, but where you can count on being comfortable--I strongly recommend it for both tourists and locals!
