Re: “Cop Union Running "No Confidence" Vote on Sizer And Saltzman

Matt is in no way an unbiased reporter - he comes off looking like a brown-noser trying to get hired by the city (like Amy Ruiz) for a high-paying job with good bennies by sucking up to Sam and Randy and criticizing WW and O for not doing so. It's not okay for WW to investigate Leonard but it was okay for Amy to continue to investigate Sam, until she got that city job she was unqualified for. I call bullshit on Matt Davis!

Re: “Ron Tonkin Says Mannix Aide Contacted Him About Recall "Six Or Seven Weeks Ago"

The issue is Sam Adams, not the company that the recall campaign hires to implement signature gathering.

"For an adult in a powerful role—an adult over a child is a powerful role in and of itself—but an adult in an elected position asking a young person to tell a lie so that the adult can maintain, what, power? That is unacceptable. How can we say that that is okay? And maybe my concern there comes from being a mom".

Matt, you're employing the same tactic Sam Adams did to cover up his lies. He discredited a messenger, Bob Ball, to hide the truth about his relationship with a teenager.

Now you're trying to obscure the message (that many of us want Sam held accountable for his unethical behavior) by discrediting the recall campaign and its vendors.

Not very progressive, Matt... rather Republican, actually.

Graham, read what Avel has to say and note that she makes her point without stooping to name-calling. You can call us idiots all you want, but that doesn't change the fact that Sam Adams is an unethical liar who denied us a fair and honest election and the recall is about him, not us.

Re: “Is Mayor Adams Ducking HQ Hotel Story?

Now see Matt, you've 'forgiven Sam and moved on", but you don't really trust him, do you? That's the big problem Sam will face for the rest of his term - we'll never be able to trust his word and we'll forever be suspicious of his motives.

I think it's pretty clear that Sam is a very typical politician, concerned only about his political survival, and will put himself first before the greater good of Portland. Maybe most politicians do that, but I think most of us that voted for him thought we were getting something different - like an honest and ethical leader. We were wrong.

Re: “Recall Campaign Files Complaint Against Adams

January 21, 2009

To: Portlanders and Auditor Gary Blackmer

From: Sam Adams

Re: Letter of Resignation

I want to reiterate my apology of yesterday to all Portlanders for engaging in an inappropriate relationship with an 18 year old and for lying about it over the past 17 months. Again, I deeply regret my actions.

In the weeks and months ahead, it is of paramount importance that city government be fully focused on helping its people and businesses through the most pressing economic recession in 60 years.

Since I returned to Portland yesterday I have taken stock of the big mess I have created. I do not need any more time conclude what is best for Portland. At this time of economic crisis this city can ill afford the distraction it would create if I was to continue on as Mayor so I resign as of 2:00pm today.

Having worked closely with Randy Leonard for many years I know he will do a great job as Interim Mayor.

I want to thank Randy for agreeing to keep on my mayoral staff through May; they are a fantastic group of hard working public servants and they will serve him well. I want to reiterate that the only role played by Amy Ruiz in this matter is that of another victim of my lies. My chief of staff Tom Miller hired her based on her smarts and extensive knowledge of Portlanders, period.

Also, I want to thank interim Mayor Randy Leonard for agreeing to take on the role of host for the Mayor’s Winter Gala on Saturday, January 31st to benefit the Q center community center. It is a very worthy cause and deserving of support.

As I return to private life immediately ahead for me I will cooperate fully with the investigation of my relationship with Beau Breedlove. And I will take time to reflect on my poor judgment in these matters and to fully learn all the lessons I need to learn from my mistakes. I will work hard to come out of this experience a better man.

I want to thank Portlanders for putting their faith in me as an elected official. I am very sorry I let you down. Now, we all need to support our great city council in its work to move Portland forward.

Re: “Good Morning, News!!

Matt: Duh... you suck up to Sam, "forgiving" him for being an unethical liar, and he 'seemed' sincere' to you?

How Junior High can you get?

Re: “Carl Wolfson Wants Me To Report On His Award

Yup Carl - you're not gonna get depth or dignity from the Merc. It seems to relish being contrary in order to be 'unconventional' or 'alternative'... as if cool means being the opposite of mainstream and being snide is hip.
