Phase 2 is Merritt Paulson packing up the moving trucks and leaving Portland.
"He has a chance to recant," said Leonard. "And he better do it quick. I'm not known for being patient, and my trigger finger is itchy."
Randy Leonard in leathers holding a whip in one hand and a fire hose in the other. Merritt Paulson bent over a chair with a ball in his mouth and nipple clamps.
In other words, it's just a groovy kind of love.
The "private" money for this whole venture is coming from his dad, who also happens to own 20% of the team. Merritt Paulson is just a figure-head because his dad is too busy with subpoenas. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=206…
Merritt Paulson is a liar and a spoiled brat. Can we PLEASE get someone else to own the Timbers? Maybe the city could buy the team? Just get this dirty family out of our city. It's embarrassing that he is tied to our soccer team, and it's going to take years to wash the stink out now.
I am totally on the fence on this one.
On the one hand I don't believe Adams was immoral or unethical regarding his sexual conduct, even if Breedlove was a few weeks younger than the legal age limit. The age limit is arbitrary, and I see nothing wrong with an age gap in a romantic relationship. The social conservative buzzards are expected but still annoying, and I don't want to give them any more fuel.
On the other hand, the lying does bother me. I share the sentiment with littlebeirut about the questioning. It sucks that we live in a society that is so interested in that stuff, and it sucks that our society would likely have judged Sam Adams negatively if he had told the truth. However, he did lie and used the lies to smear Bob Ball. It just rubs me the wrong way when I think about it, especially as Bob is also gay.
Maybe telling the truth would have been a step forward for the gay community, just like Bill Clinton admitting he inhaled marijuana would have been a step forward in the drug legalization movement. It is those who stand up for their ideals that change the world for the better. "Yes, I had sex with Beau Breedlove, and I loved every moment of it. Next question?"
The stuff with the Paulson family is also just plain jaw-dropping to me. It seems like something a hardcore Republican mayor would do and is 180 degrees opposite of the Portland ethic. Where is our green industry? Instead, we are subsidizing the profits while taking all the risk for the family at the forefront of our economic collapse.
Jimbo PDX, after years and year of soccer haters accusing soccer fans of being hooligans, the younger generation of fans now believes that is the way they should behave. It is a sad evolution because they are driving away long-time fans of the sport and replacing us with unknowledgeable ruffians who excel at threats and intimidation. Imagine if baseball began pandering to drunk WWF-style fans with no understanding of the rules or respect for the history, and more focused on fighting opposing fans and taunting the umpires.
Finnegan, who are you to say I am not a resident of Portland. I was born, raised, and live in NE. You are a transplant, as is BlackedOut and most of the other Timbers Army attack dogs you have on a close leash. They went after Peter Apanel for daring to have his well-written and well-researched op-eds published in The Oregonian, finding his street address and posting pictures of his house to your message board. And now increasing attention is being paid to me, based on my reading of your message board. It seems to be in your natures to want to attack and hurt people rather than participate in the democratic process.
I don't believe you care about what happens to Memorial Coliseum except for how it affects the bottom line of your patrons the Paulson family. Drop it. There isn't going to be a baseball stadium there. You have strong-armed the city enough already.
