On a road trip to Las Vegas with a suitcase full of soap and a grapefruit. No hitchhikers in bat country. These reporters are like…
This looks like bat country

I think they should rename the Portland Spirit to the "Ghost Ship". With so many self proclaimed pirates in this town it would be appropriate. I don't recall booze at any election celebration being an issue for Portland, Mayor Bud Clark organized his base out of his bar Goose Hollow Inn. So what? If I remember the Mercury staff correctly, most of them could drink the other reporters in town under the table.
Brady could say anything at this point and I don't believe a word of it. Stephen Quirke wrote a great letter to her today via Portland Occupier; http://www.portlandoccupier.org/2012/05/10…
Thanks for this report.
Here is my perspective. This was an internal Pacific Green Party chapter issue with no outside influences on the decision.
One thing that continues to confuse people is this was a chapter endorsement and not from the State Green Party which is called Pacific Green Party of Oregon. The chapter is called Portland Greens, so reference should be to the chapter as Pacific Green Party of Oregon-Portland Greens Chapter. This is important to point out because there is the 19th of June chapter and the Multnomah County chapter in Portland with many registered Pacific Greens in Portland not in an active chapter. Even in the released statement the chapter is referred to as the Portland Green Party; having three separate names for a chapter will confuse a lot of people, there should be only one name.
I must say, Team Brady, right away began calling her 2nd place vote as the Green Party endorsement or from Oregon Green Party. Neither of that is true. In my opinion, which is not the chapters opinion, a lot of the support in the room was for Jefferson Smith and the move for a re-vote was from issues with Brady and seeking a re-vote on Mayor endorsements.
With that said, the result and stated resolution was a "compromise and attempt at diplomacy". Many Pacific Green Party members in Portland have already voted for Jefferson Smith or are planning too and some will vote for Cameron Whitten, with maybe even a vote for Brady or Tre Arrow.
I also thought the Woolley chart comparison was incomplete but it was a draft and not a final presentation. The chart was done on behalf of a request from members to re-examine the candidates and the Mayor endorsement at a previous meeting.
The thinking that Nader got Bush Jr. elected is foolish and not based on solid factual analysis. Clearly, the
Bush crime family has a reputation of criminal activity.
Frankieb or AKA Dr. Mangala, you sound like a Lars Larson fascist and should be ashamed of yourself. Too bad Justin didn't have some gold in his teeth to extract, right? It is void of all humanity to claim a man wounded by police is trying to steal money or manipulate the police accountability system with an IRV complaint. I hope he sues the PPD and I wish it could come right out of your paycheck or bank account. It is the fascist people like yourself in Portland that should move back to the East Coast or wherever the hell you came from and let civil progressive minded people govern the city. Frankieb, are you paid to blog here on the Mercury? Who pays you? You are always on here, do you not have something more productive to do rather than attacking people online with vile, hostile attacks?
Jefferson Smith campaign HQ party last night was packed and full of familiar city activist and players. Clearly, we have found a favorite candidate even if the media hasn't discovered the story.
