No photo credit Scrappers???
I honestly don't know if I could go out and pay money to see this guy again. I think the entire time I would have to stifle the impulse to shout "liar!" anytime he told something that was meant to sound anecdotal or matter-of-fact. I'd probably ruin the show for myself and anyone who went with me with all the eye rolling I'd be doing. He should collaborate or work with some other people. He needs to build his cred up as an artists again not as a solo performer.
The comparison in your argument is subtle mr. Humphrey but not completely opaque. You've presented two videos that are essentially the same thing. One is about men killing other men through the act of jerkin it. The other presents one complete act of jerkin it, over the course of two hours that has been guised in black & white photography and self-importance. The message that you posit is clear though, when one sees these presentations side by side:
STOP WANKING OFF ALL THE TIME FUCKERS, DO YOU WANT EVERYONE TO END UP BLIND?
I do think Portland theaters could stand to look at plays that a. had more race-blind casting and/or b. were about the contemporary experience of racism. The closest thing that comes to mind would be Portland Playhouse's "Brother/Sister Plays" from 2012, but that show wasn't necessarily about contemporary racism, but more about the African American experience in general. Wait, wait, I've got it! If we're talking about looking at race through a contemporary lens, then we need not look any further than one David Simon... Boom! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWmryAVUoL8 You're welcome PCS/ART/Portland Playhouse. Your next season of theater is planned.
