Drew Grow and The Pastors' Wives is one of the more inventive bands based in Portland, if you haven't seen them live yet, you should be asking yourself why? And maybe flailing yourself with a whip. The only way to describe them (and this is totally inadequate compared to seeing them live or hearing them) is to picture Tom Waits, Mark Lanegan and a couple of choir folk spending all day drinkin' whiskey and then commence to make music. Yes, it's that good. Drew Grow maybe fronting the band, but the Pastors' Wives add that much needed punch with amazing backing vocals, inventive stand-up bass and astonishing drumming. So stop flailing yourself and get out there and see them for yourself.
I've suffered the exact same injury, lost my leg to a train, so it's not THAT uncommon, especially in the city limits where trains run slower so you can't feel the vibrations coming or hardly hear them. Suffice to say, both Pile and I were lucky, the week that I had my accident three death-by-being-hit-by-a-train were reported. I'm happy for every day that I've had since that accident, and this guy's life was just changed FOREVER. Being a gimp aint easy.
