Re: “Where the Money Goes

It's bold to call spending on urban renewal projects "largely outside city hall's control". Sure, in 2014 they are unbreakable contracts, but they exist because of the love city hall has historically showered upon the PDC. (You can see this a few graphs later, where it is pointed out the pie slice for urban renewal funds keeps getting larger.) Next time a new urban renewal area is proposed, think hard whether it's worth the long term commitment.

Re: “A Haven in Old Town

I'm confused. In this article, Old Town business owner Howard Weiner seems like he gives 100% credit to the Bud Clark Commons for reducing drug dealers in Old Town: "What's happened is the success of the day center."

But the article directly above this, Denis makes it seem like Howard Weiner is crediting the new Drug Free Zones with reducing drug use in the same area: "I've seen a reduction."

Which one is it? Or could there be some unknown third variable? Drug supply? Food carts closing for the winter, reducing close by munchies? Alien overlords?

Re: “Letters to the Editor

How come the "prepubescent/child porn" argument gets thrown around for shaven pubic hair, but not shaven legs, armpits, and faces? Is it really about your concerns about idolizing prepubescent hairlessness, or are you just trying to push your views on everyone else?
