I held off going to Arleta for a couple years because I was under the impression that they didn't have anything vegetarian. I was missing out! My meat-devouring husband and I have been here a few times now and we love it! The food is excellent, made from scratch (I think they even make the ketchup there?), filling, and not super expensive! Their scrambles are to die for, and as has been echoed, my husband loves the biscuits and gravy.
Harry's Mother, Porchlight/Streetlight and other Janus programs have actually been working with children and youth sex workers since before the grant. I personally have met young males and females who were recovering from sex work thanks to large support networks (including Janus programs which met basic needs, provided counseling, and whose staff have been there to provide care). I have also met those who had unfortunately yet to escape - this CSEC grant should help us in meeting their needs and getting them out of sex work more specifically. The havoc it wreaks on one's body and mind - especially on children - is horrendous. I hope that we are able to help provide more solid statistics for our area, too! I believe on any given night there are about 140 unduplicated child sex workers. That is too many!
