Typical Portlander, I suppose. I have a dog, go to school, work a few jobs. I love my dog, hulu hooping, drinking cocktails, music and…
bicycle, blogs, cocktails, dogs, Evidence, hulu hooping, radio, Street Justice, volunteer, whiskey
This is gonna be kick ass.
What a cunt.
I consider myself (mostly) a kind and respectful person. I find myself asking people on their cell phones having personal and/or loud convos to "shhh" on the bus, or people smoking in non-smoking places (i.e. the hospital I work at) to stop and any other self absorbed act I witness that irritates or puts in jeopardy the people around them, to knock it off - I get serious attitude back, cursing or threats. I think Portland can be passive to confrontation, but people who just don't really give a shit are dicks. No amount of directness or politeness will make them think twice. Happy Holidays!!
Interesting read. How can someone go through the same experience - sleep in the camp - for their own knowledge and to discuss it in class/write about it?
What does it mean when a black person asks to touch my hair or asks if it's real and how many times a week do I wash it? Or when someone (any race) asks me if I'm Jewish? Should I take is personally when people don't want to sit next to me on the bus? How about when I'm walking down the street and people move to the side or switch their bag to the other shoulder? I say get pissed when you get your liberties fucked with because you're black, or your pay fucked with because you're black. White women walk away from me too. Probably because I have a few tattoos, dress like a typical Portlander and have big boobs and don't always feel like hiding them to make the conservative white woman comfortable. Don't worry about the people that don't like you. Seriously. Unless they fuck with your liberties or pay.
I rock the shit out of a big fat bun and big fat Buddy Holly glasses. Don't hate, IAnon. I do it because it's trendy and pop culture. Sometimes living in the moment is awesome. I'm not trying to prove a point or inspire fashion or a trend - big fat buns and Buddy Holly glasses inspired me.
Man, now I feel bad... I have an associates degree and make more than $15/hr.
I've been working since I was 14, in many different fields (the obvious first time jobs; server, retail, etc), but I think one of the reasons I got this position was because I nailed the interview.
Research the company/department motto, goals, etc. Go in with a great attitude, have questions for the interviewer ready. Dress the part and make a connection. The applicant cap for my gig was 80. That's 80 people that first got phone interviews, then a third of them got one on one interviews, then five of us got the panel interview.
I don't have to assume, I know there were people in that group that had more experience and higher education than me, but I got the gig.
Sorry about your luck, IAnon. I was unemployed in this great city for five months. Try, try and try again.
OMFG. This is so lame. Fat guy no shirt = makes you uncomfortable? Duh. So shut up about it. Seriously. It was fucking hot last week. This is the stupidest rant A,I has posted.
