I have always had a good meal at the SS. It's not a place for those who like to hide in a booth and still expect to be pampered / have their high-maintenance mindset maintenanced. Last time I checked, sandwiches are not meant to be hot -- really, that's your complaint? You have too much time on your hands if you go online and switch cared for carried. Yikes. Yikes, indeed.
If you sit AT the counter (like at a good diner), then almost every dining need you have will be met in no time at all. The service can't really avoid you there :) Be nice to them and they'll be nice to you, guaranteed.
Don't go there if you're frazzled, on a time crunch, or don't like alternative music that is sometimes, yes, played a little too loud. Sit back, enjoy the ambiance, and take it all in.
And if you need a little drinky-drinky to take the edge off of your uptight life, you can get that there too. Remember, bad reviews lead to bad karma, wink.

C***, I meant Radio Cab, located itself just blocks from Joe's, for the rides back and forth, 503-227-1212. DO call Radio Cab, they'll be there in a snap.
