Oh Portland... The libertine utopia with a stick up its ass. This is almost, but not quite, as stupid as trying to recall the mayor for screwing an 18 year old and not telling us about it.
I'm shocked that you discovered racist and sexist overtones in this film from 50 years ago. I had a similar experience recently. A favorite contemporary author mentioned that Plato had a big effect on his worldview, so I read a couple dialogues and could not believe the *totes casual* acceptance of **slavery and pedophilia**. We really push this guy as a example of how we should think?
Consider contacting the AFI and relevant media outlets with this information so they can remove it from their "classics" lists. It has no place among the real classics of the 40's-60's, all of which depict an egalitarian, post-patriarchal society.

Good on you guys for doing this.
I thought the writing in the chariot story excerpt was particularly good.
On the environmental front, renewable energy and "green jobs" were brought up at least a couple times, though not in any depth. Obama mentioned the ending of Don't Ask, Don't Tell as one of his accomplishments. He also mentioned Michelle, which means he talked about women more than Romney did. I mean, technically.
I'm not saying I thought it was a good debate, but I'm not upset that they didn't get into some of that stuff. We already know that Obama is with us in wanting to kill unborn babies, preventing America from using its resources and keeping its people employed so we can have more trees and owls to hug, tolerating dark skinned people and their warlike religions, and promoting unrestrained and brutal gay sex on the street and in our schools. And Romney's against all that. Making all that left vs. right big vision stuff clear is what the conventions and stump speeches are for.
This was going to be spun as a Romney win before the debate even happened. These major media outlets are businesses that have an interest in keeping people interested and tuned in every day. That doesn't happen if you keep reporting a 5-8 point lead and likely win for the incumbent. Since we live in a country of mindless sheep, poll numbers can always be nudged one way or the other by portraying the candidates in different lights. (I'm only referring to the pres. race here, but it of course applies to everything else.)
Okay so here's what happens next: The VP debate is spun as a win for Ryan, and Romney pulls into a dead heat in the important battleground polls (maybe ahead in a couple). Then the foreign policy debate happens and Obama is spun as the winner of that. Slight poll lead again. Finally, the town hall debate is spun as a draw, but it's noted that in it Romney overcame the image of him being a robot. This will bring us to election day with Obama slightly ahead in the important battleground polls, but still within the 3 point margin of error.
Show's postponed... Per her Facebook page just a little bit ago.
