I keep thinking of Rep. Jeff Merkley bringing the Oregon Family Council to the table before Oregon passed domestic partnerships... consequently, they sat out the repeal effort, and we still have domestic partnerships. Distasteful at the time, sure, but genius in hindsight.

Meanwhile, the Moon and Sixpence is closing for a few days to replace the carpet and repaint. Other places are trending toward doing a thorough cleaning (crappy economy makes new carpet unfeasible at this time).

BSPD and PDC can't be merged - the PDC is a quasi-governmental agency that's somewhat independent from the city (the city is involved in setting PDC's budget, but much of its work is done without city oversight). Instead of being the Commissioner-in-charge of the PDC—as he will be for the BSPD—Adams is the "liaison" to PDC.
