The election-year rumors had to do with SEX WITH A MINOR. Assuming Adams was smart enough to wait until Beau Breadloaf was 18, sex with a minor didn't happen. Adams said he didn't think he would be believed if he told the truth. The comments here & elsewhere bear that out. Legal sexual congress is not the business of the press or the electorate. So: His political career was at stake because of a false rumor he couldn't effectively deny about something that was NOBODY'S GODDAM BUSINESS -- a lose-lose predicament -- and he lied. I can see why he lied. And while the coverup was a bit over the top, I can give him a pass on that lie. Unique and extenuating circumstances.
Putting the moves on a 17-year-old darkens the picture. I would like to know how old Adams thought Bo was that night in the second-floor men's room. I'm also eager to see how the kissing-equals-intimate-contact question proves out from a legal standpoint.
This is too nuanced and tl;dr for some folks, Vert, but that's how I've worked it out, and I think it's how a lot of Portlanders will work it out if the recall gets to the voters, which I don't think will happen. A roomful of noisy jaspers at City Hall with commercially printed signs doesn't mean it will.

For clarification, I have no problem with your qualifications (or Amy J. Ruiz's). There's more to life than one's resume, particularly in volunteer activism. I think you've picked an unfortunate cause, but there's no shame in betting on a bad horse now & then. Bet on a few bad ones myself. You broke with a potentially valuable mentor on a point of principle, & I respect that.
Now that you've had a taste of the life of a backroom pol & the hazards of volunteer activism, I'm curious to know what you see in your future at this point -- back to the campaign-aide track, the volunteer track, or possibly elective office. All three appear wide open for you. Any clue at this point?

Amy works hard at networking/sourcing (when she's a journalist, at least). I wasn't an important part of her network/source file. Just a colleague.

It's a moot point. 419 spammers continue to operate because people take the bait. Certainly there are gullible buffoons lurking on this site. I'd guess that 70 percent of computer users basically use the thing as a super-typewriter/Internet cruiser and have no clue what system32 is. Did you account for that in setting up your little "joke," shitheel? How many deleted system32s are acceptable in your accounting of right vs. wrong, good vs. evil? Can we REALLY believe you won't do it again?
