I've heard rumors about this but hadn't seen the pic. Thanks Sarah. I think its great. Pendleton is a cool town and the folks there are justifiably proud of their local crafts.
Bruce your concern makes sense, but strangers approach me all day long - that's part of being a public official and frankly a good part. Goes with the territory. I still think its more dangerous driving to Salem on I-5, though.
PS - not sure why you got the PR on the 4th - it went out the 3rd (this was a board action on Thursday the 3rd...)
Matt - You've got it wrong. I am highly committed to mental health services in Multnomah County. Four weeks ago the Board approved the County budget which included my request to allocate $1 million towards the establishment of a sub-acute treatment center. To the best of my knowledge, these are the first real dollars ever committed to the project in this community. More recently, I asked the Board to approve $1.5 million toward stabilizing Cascadia. As recently as last week, I was meeting with clients and advocates to continue the work to stabilize and improve the system going forward. Obviously, there are deep problems that have been around for awhile that must be addressed. The decision to not move the levy in November does not mean we are abandoning the effort - it means we would rather wait and get it passed than move it now and risk blowing it.
